I am behind the schedule.
Today’s subject is, I am behind the schedule. What to do with that? It’s actually crucial to talk about that, to address it. Because many of us, when they see that they are behind, they just throw the towel, and they say, oh my. I cannot do it! It’s just I am too busy. I don’t have time and blah blah blah. You just hear all the symphony and orchestra in your head about why you cannot do it. What you will not do it. Of course we know that it can be the sign of resistance. If you have been working with me for some time you know how it is important to be able to recognize it. Also, what is important is to have very specific strategy of coming out from the problems that you have.
What we can do in this very part of your situation, when you are very good at planning. You have the plan and your schedule. You know what to do everyday. It’s clear, but for some reasons you are behind your schedule. The execution part is not working.
First of all, recognize that. Ready and wellness is the first things to repair something, to fix something. If your blind and you said, oh I’m perfect I will just stay during the weekend and whatever it will happen. Don’t joke that, and treat it with commitment that you took to do this program. That you took also for your personal life, and in business, and mission and have a strategy for that.
There on, the most effective strategies are the one that you choose for yourself. The one that you know works for you. What you can do you just take a paper write down, and you can actually do that in project management before you start a project. If you didn’t do it, no worries you can always do that, the exercise is to plan to fail the schedule. It’s exactly how it sounds. It’s just that you missed the deadlines of the schedule that you gave yourself for different tasks.
The idea is to teach yourself how you work and what you can do to either work faster, be more focused, or have the reality check with yourself and maybe you really need more time. It’s not really possible to write a book in a week or it is possible. Just know yourself so in the chapter that you are writing about applying for failure of the schedule you have to say to yourself, first state it. If I notice on my weekly check up with myself that I am behind the schedule my strategy for that is what?
Second part, if we don’t yet to write down the strategy we go to second part and we write down anything that could go wrong. You are very brainstorming with yourself, or with the team if you have a team. The reason why you are behind. Really maybe it was health issue. Maybe there was another important client coming. Maybe there were holidays, and you are honest with yourself and you write down all the reasons why you are behind. Then like a good doctor, and a good business man, and a business woman you fix one by one.
For example, if there is a problem with the schedule because you schedule a conference on the same day that your children have holidays from school and you’re like, not going to do the two things at the same time because it’s not possible. That’s the way that you have to react where you have to go, what you have to do. Do you have to hire someone to run that retreat for you, or you have to send the kids to some stage (semicolons) or someplace that they would be take care. The next time you will make sure that you will never cross those two things. Maybe you got sick, and this is something that already many people struggle with because they say, oh I cannot really plan my sickness. Yes, you cannot plan that, but you can plan what you will do in the case of it. Do you have big plan.
Often we think we our body we can use them, explore however we want. In the stress they often say, sorry I want to do something else. If we don’t address the health before the big things that we have planned we can be in trouble. It’s not only writing down business things that can go wrong and destroy our schedule, delete our schedule it’s also the personal or the teams because maybe it may be a team member will go sick, or the team members behind because his competence is not good enough. You have write all the things down and then address it one by one how you can solve, it’s the place where you have to be resourcefulness. The best is to do the exercise (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cq1YnRzzgY&t=58s) that I’m always talking about. The exercise that connect your body, your mind and your heart and make you really resourcefulness. Full of resources, full of ideas. Full of good things that you can do right now, and write it down then so in a case of delay and your own schedule you know what to do.
If it’s on you often what you need is accountability. Working with a coach. Working with somebody that you can team up. Joining mastermind group. Joining a club. Whatever works for you, but have a plan for you. Plan for that kind of things. If you don’t have it yet, you will have now.
Please take a moment right after watching this video and write down your failure of scheduling plan. What you will do when you have delayed or you will be behind whatever you call that. What actions that you will take, because the worse is to not do anything about it or to blame and play the game, oh no I’m not good enough. I cannot do it blah blah blah. No, you can do it. You will do it, because you commit to it. It is your life and you are not alone. We are all in this together. I’m here to help you. Do it now. Thank you so much for your commitment and your time.
And now let me know what is your plan to fail the schedule?
